KITTIE's New Album To Be Released In Europe Via MASSACRE
September 16, 2009Germany's Massacre Records has announced the addition of the Canadian all-girl metal band KITTIE to the label's roster for Europe, licensed from E1 Music. Under this deal, KITTIE will release three albums via Massacre.
KITTIE has issued four studio albums during its career which have collectively sold over 1.25 million copies. The band's new CD, "In The Black", will be made available in Europe on October 23.
Commented KITTIE guitarist/vocalist Morgan Lander: "We are totally thrilled and honored to be working with Massacre Records. We have been hard at work for the past few months perfecting our latest musical offering and are pleased with the final result of 'In The Black'. It is everything that KITTIE is supposed to be: heavy, fast, brash and nasty, yet at times introspective, feminine and emotional. One thing it is not, however, is compromising of the sound and style that we have come to be known for. This shit is HEAVY! Our new label pairing with E1/Massacre will actualize the vision that we have held constant over the years for the band."
"Cut Throat", the new video from KITTIE, can be viewed below. The clip was directed by David Brodsky (SUICIDE SILENCE, GWAR, THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER) in an old, abandoned department store in Brooklyn, New York and it "perfectly captures what this band is all about," says Morgan. "The make-up artist didn't really appreciate the fact that our make-up was sliding down our faces from the first note, but this isn't pretty or nice or dainty. This is metal and the 'Cut Throat' video perfectly embodies that."
KITTIE last year parted ways with bassist Trish Doan and replaced her with Ivy Vujic of the Canadian band IN THE WAKE. According to a press release, Doan was diagnosed with the eating disorder anorexia-athletica-nervosa, which she developed during the recording of KITTIE's "Funeral for Yesterday", Doan's first and final release with the group.
